This morning my oldest son and daughter lost yet another friend to Oxycontin or heroin overdose, that makes it 2 in the last 30 days! and I don’t even want to count how many in the last 4 years. It is an extremely heart breaking scenario to see all these young people full of life and dreams get together every couple of weeks to laid to rest yet another friend. While everyone one in the group is wondering WHO will be next? who will over dose? who’s parents will you see crying next to a coffin in the next few weeks?
While standing next to that coffin they all remember the good times and bad times they had growing up but not once anyone from that group realizes that the next person to die maybe themselves.
What does it take for them to realized that the next time they get together again may be for their own funeral. How do we help a generation that is full of pills and quick fix, a generation that believes they know everything but yet they don’t realized that they have been conditioned since birth by media, marketing and propaganda. How do help them? how do you stop it? how do we stop people who supply this addictions to our kids as early as 10, 11 and 12. And yet the more we laid these kids to rest the more money the pharmaceutical companies, doctors, and insurance companies make. I’m not a writer or an English mayor so this article is not about grammatical errors or a well put composition, I’m just a parent like many of us expressing our frustration and fear to this generation.
